Privacy Policy
This policy explains how information is handled when you visit markcherches.com, Mark Cherches’s personal portfolio, or use its optional lens demos.
Browsing this website
You do not need an account to browse this portfolio. The site has no sign-up form, advertising pixels, or additional visitor-analytics service. Its hosting and font providers still receive information needed to deliver the pages.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends requests to Google that include your IP address and browser request information. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Optional camera and lens experiences
The Projects section includes links to lenses hosted by Snap. Opening one takes you to Snap’s website, where Snap’s terms, permission prompts, and privacy practices apply.
Where an on-site Camera Kit demo is available, the camera starts only after you choose to start it and grant browser permission. You can decline and continue browsing the portfolio. The on-site player requests camera access only; it does not request microphone, contacts, photo-library, or precise-location access.
Camera Kit uses camera images to display the selected augmented-reality effect. Some lenses detect features such as face or hand positions to place effects or respond to movement. This website does not use that processing to identify you or create an identity profile.
Mark Cherches does not receive or save camera recordings, photos, or face-tracking data from the on-site player. The player has no recording, upload, or sharing function. Its camera tracks are stopped when you press Stop camera, close the player, navigate to another portfolio section, or leave the tab.
Snap’s services and browser storage
Camera Kit is provided by Snap Inc. Starting an on-site demo connects your browser to Snap and its content-delivery services to load and run the lens. Snap may process technical information, identifiers, usage information, and performance diagnostics under its own Privacy Policy. Snap’s handling of information is separate from the portfolio’s lack of camera recording or storage.
Snap components may use cookies or browser storage for consent, configuration, and service operation. Your browser may also cache website files and remember camera permissions. You can manage permissions and clear site data through your browser settings. See Snap’s information about lenses and its Terms of Service.
Contact information
If you email cherches@stanford.edu, your email address, message, and any attachments are processed to respond to your inquiry. Correspondence is handled through the email provider and retained as needed to respond and maintain relevant records. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your inquiry.
Your choices and requests
You can browse without using any camera features, revoke camera permission, close the demo, or clear your browser’s stored site data. For questions or requests to access, correct, or delete information you have sent directly to Mark Cherches, contact cherches@stanford.edu. Requests will be handled as applicable to the information held and the law where you live. For information held independently by Snap, GitHub, or Google, use the controls and contact options in their policies.
External links and updates
Links to Snapchat, GitHub, LinkedIn, and other websites are governed by those services’ privacy practices. This policy may be updated when the website’s features or practices change; the date above identifies the latest update.
